The Major of Engineering Management commenced student enrollment in 2010. In 2013, it was approved as part of the Anhui Provincial Higher Education Revitalization Plan under the New Major Construction Project. By 2019, it achieved the top rank in the evaluation of management disciplines (specifically Engineering Management) among regular undergraduate colleges in Anhui Province. In 2022, it was recognized as a provincial first-class major, one of only two in the entire province. The following year, in 2023, it successfully completed the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development's professional evaluation and accreditation, again one of just two universities in Anhui Province to do so. In 2024, it secured a place in the top 31% (72/231) of the Best Chinese University Subject Rankings by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) with a B+ grade. The teaching hardware and software equipment is valued at over 6 million RMB. Currently, the program boasts 14 full-time faculty members, including 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 1 senior lecturer, 9 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 1 doctoral student. Additionally, there are 2 doctoral supervisors and 8 master’s supervisors.
This major is distinguished by its seamless blend of construction engineering and management principles. Its primary objective is to nurture skilled, versatile, and practical engineering management professionals equipped with a robust comprehension of civil engineering, metallurgical construction engineering technology, project management, fundamental legal concepts, regulations, economics, and advanced knowledge in digital construction, intelligent construction, and smart construction. Graduates excel in leveraging modern information technology, have undergone essential engineering training, and are proficient in project decision-making and holistic management within the realm of engineering construction, both domestically and internationally.
The graduate employment rate stands at an impressive 96%, with a significant portion opting for postgraduate studies at esteemed institutions listed under the 985 and 211 projects. About 20% of graduates pursue further education. The majority secure positions in prominent state-owned enterprises and institutions within the Yangtze River Delta urban hub, accounting for approximately 80% of total placements. Nearly half of these employed graduates find roles in central enterprises like China State Construction Engineering Group, Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd., China Railway Group Limited, China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, and Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd. Employers consistently praise the caliber of graduates. Notably, three alumni have been honored with the Outstanding Graduates Award by China Civil Engineering Society, a prestigious recognition bestowed upon only 15 students nationwide each year. Graduates develop a solid theoretical foundation and initial practical experience necessary for achieving national professional qualifications such as Registered Constructor, Registered Cost Engineer, and Registered Supervising Engineer. They are well-equipped for careers in construction firms, design agencies, engineering consultancies, real estate enterprises, investment firms, and various sectors related to engineering project management and construction.
